Lambda Chi A 10 - Kappa Sigma A 4
Lambda Chi and KSig competed one last time this season in order to get a spot in the Men's Greek Championship Game.
Matt Guernsey put Lambda Chi in an early lead with a goal a minute into play. The first half was all defense for Lambda Chi as they only let one goal from Kappa Sigma's Sebastian Torres get past their defense after ten minutes of play. Lambda Chi's Joshua Lopez scored immediately after Toress' goal, putting his team up 2-1. Teammate Cesar Zarate made one last goal with thirty seconds left on the clock going into the second.
Lambda Chi switched their focus to offense and went on a scoring tangent in the second half. Joshua Lopez completed a hat trick, Sean Maes scored, Guernsey made another goal, and Zarate added one as well with a strong mid-court shot. KSig fought tirelessly to cut the deficit in the score, but just could not get a ball past Lambda Chi's dominant goal keeper Dustyn Stanley.
Nicholas Zozaya scored a goal for KSig in the second, and teammate Eric Smith added two to bring their count to four goals. Lambda Chi was on a roll with seven goals in the second half alone and won after the game was called due to the mercy rule at two minutes.
Because of their win, Lambda Chi advanced to the Men's Greek Championship Game later that night.
Lambda Chi A 10 - Tau Kappa Epsilon 1
Lambda Chi and TKE competed for the Men's Greek Championship title.
Cesar Zarate carried his team in the first half with three goals. Teammate Joshua Lopez scored one as well. TKE did not score any in the first half although they had many attempts at the goal.
Lambda Chi tore up the game with six more goals in the second half. Zarate scored two more times, and Lopez scored again as well. Teammate's Josh Hunter and Matt Guernsey also scored.
Andrew Schmidt would be the only player of the game for TKE to score with a goal five minutes into the the second half. His shot came when Lambda Chi's GK was out of the net. Despite Lambda Chi's extensive lead over TKE, the game was tremendously aggressive and neither team let their guard down on the court.
Dustyn Stanley proved yet again what a fantastic goal keeper he is, letting only one ball past his hands in the entire game and blocking an extensive amount of shots.
The game was called at two minutes due to the mercy rule.
With the win, Lambda Chi advanced to the Men's All-Campus Championship game against Banana Nuts.

Banana Nuts 14 - Lambda Chi A 4
In the final game of the indoor soccer season, Banana Nuts and Lambda Chi Alpha battled for the Men's All-Campus Championship title. Banana Nuts started the game off with a goal from Carlos Mejia. Edgar Flores scored a minute later off an assist from teammate Jose Ostorga to put their team in the lead 2-0. Lambda Chi's Cesar Zarate broke their lead with a goal at thirteen minutes, but his goal was responded with a 5-0 streak from Banana Nuts. Juan Ostorga made a hat trick and Jose Martinez and Firas Inasrani each scored.
The half-time score was 7-1 Banana Nuts going into the second. Lambda Chi looked tired after already playing two games just before this match, and a few members of their team were sore or playing injured, making it difficult for them to hustle and be on the ball and put up defense for their keeper.
Despite these setbacks, Lambda Chi made three goals in the second half, two from Zarate and one from teammate Ryan Leao. However, it wasn't enough as Banana Nuts was on fire and scored seven more goals to double their first half score and put up a ten point lead over Lambda Chi. Martinez, Flores, and Juan and Jose Ostorga would each score again, and teammates Roberto Morales and Victor Chavez-Hernandez would make a second half debut and score as well.
The game was called at two minutes due to the mercy rule with Banana Nuts winning the Men's All-Campus Championship title.

Lambda Chi A 9 PK (2-1) - Phi Delta Theta 9
Lambda Chi Alpha and Phi Delta Theta played a championship worthy game last night that went even beyond overtime play and into penalty kicks. They were goal for goal, block for block, and evenly matched in their skill.
For Phi Delt, Josh Crame led his team with three goals in the first half, and teammate Juan Gatti added two. Cesar Zarate carried Lambda Chi with four goals, and teammate Sean Maes put one in as well to create a tied 5-5 game going into the second half.
Maes was the first to break the tie in the second with a goal three minutes into play. Justin Warren tied the game up again for Phi Delt when he kicked a ball that ricocheted off a Lambda Chi player and went into the goal. Walter Miller made another goal for Phi Delt putting them up 7-6 with twelve minutes remaining. However, Zarate and Maes were not finished and each made a goal within minutes of each other to flip the lead putting Lambda Chi up 8-7. Phi Delt's Juan Gatti extinguished this lead less than a minute later to tie up the game 8-8. After an intense five minutes of defensive play from both teams, Lambda Chi's Matt Guernsey weaved his way through Phi Delt's defense and scored a goal for his team. It seemed as if Lamba Chi was going to win at this point, but a shocking last second goal on a free kick by Phi Delt's Joshua Crame tied up the score once more. At the buzzer, the teams were tied 9-9.
In result of the tie game, the teams went into overtime. Being that the first to score would win the game, the physical intensity increased as both teams scrambled to get a goal. So many shots were taken, but neither team was able to score in the time allotted.
Phi Delta Theta's Jose Rangel and Lambda Chi Alpha's Dustyn Stanley were both absolutely incredible in the goal throughout the entire game, and especially in overtime with neither letting a ball get past their hands.
With no team scoring in overtime, the teams had to win by penalty kicks. Phi Delt's Juan Gatti made his first penalty kick. Lambda Chi's Sean Maes made his as well. Still tied. Phi Delt's Josh Crame missed his penalty kick, and L-Chi's Cesar Zarate missed his as well. The teams were tied again and immense pressure was on going into the third round of PK's. Phi Delta Theta's Jesse Bartlett was not able to make his third kick, so the weight of the entire game was down to Lambda Chi's Joshua Lopez. With a final kick, Lopez made it in the goal to end the game with brothers and fans flooding the court.

Lambda Chi A 29 - Kappa Sigma B 6
Lambda Chi lit up the scoreboard all night long with a pounding of K-Sig’s B-squad. Quarterback Casey Barbee was on a roll the entire way making completion after completion. He made two touchdown passes to John Gonzalez, one to Adam Lester, and even took one in himself.
After the first half, LXA had reasons to celebrate with a 14-0 lead and no signs of K-Sig making a second half turnaround. K-Sig did better offensively in the second half as quarterback Johnathan Tejada hit Zackery Williams for a touchdown, but they still couldn’t find an answer for Barbee and Lambda Chi’s dynamite offense.
Lambda Chi scored two more times in the second half and held K-Sig to the one touchdown until the mercy rule kicked in, ending their night a little early.

Lambda Chi B 0 - Renegades 12
Although Renegades finished the game off with a 12-point shutout victory, this game was very intense nonetheless. The first half was a masterpiece of rock solid defense from both squads, resulting in a scoreless tie entering the break. Both offenses did well moving the ball, but it was always clutch defensive stops near the red zone that kept the score so close.
At the halfpoint marker, one could only imagine that the winner of this game would probably be the first team to score due to such incredible efforts on the defensive front by both sides. Fortunately for Renegades, it was them that mustered up the first score of the game. Fortuanately for Renegades, it was also them that walked away with the victory.
Devin Flynn took over the quarterback duties for Justin Harmon after the first half and he failed to disappoint. His first strike was to Paolo Castro in the Lambda Chi end zone to make it a 6-0 game. Lambda Chi tried to return the favor with a successful drive of their own. They certainly gave Renegades a scare with good completions and impressive running plays.
Their hopes of getting themselves back into the game was quickly destroyed when Kamohoalii Paulino made a nice interception and gave Renegades the ball back. Flynn took the regain of momentum as another chance to put together another successful drive. It wasn’t long before they had marched down the field and put themselves in striking distance.
Flynn dumped a short pass to Harmon who made a few acrobatic moves to escape the defense and take the ball all the way in for a touchdown. This late score basically took away any comeback hopes for Lambda Chi and the clock expired, giving Renegades the well-earned shutout victory.

Lambda Chi A 13 - Lambda Chi B 6
It was a close game early, but Lambda Chi "A" triumphed over its fellow fraternity brothers with a 13-6 victory.
"B" Team, aka: BEAST TEAM!!, were beastin' it up and led 4-2 midway through the first half, but then Sean Maes caught fire to lead his team back into prominence. Maes scored nine consecutive goals for the "A" team at one point, helping extend his team's lead to 10-5 midway through the second half.
Casey Barbee scored two early goals of four to extend "B" team's lead to that 4-2, but when Maes caught fire that was the end of "B" team's run.
Cesar Zarate added two goals for "A" Team, and "A" team goalie Dustyn Stanley played very well during and after Maes' impressive streak.
In the loss, Barbee and teammate Thomas Ricca had two goals each.

Lambda Chi A 32 - TKE 13
L-Chi's quarterback Casey Barbee led his team to victory with a late night run fest.
Barbee started with a short pitch to John Gonzalez to put them up 8 to 0. Barbee scrambled for another one to Lester and then ran it in for the extra points. Barbee also provided great defense only allowing one touchdown in the first half. Barbee ran in another putting their half time score 20 to 7.
TKE quarterback Matt Carra threw a wild pass down field and hit Sean Murry to put their score at 13. L-Chi continued to dominate with two more run in touchdowns by Barbee putting his total at 3. They ran out the clock and ended with high fives while TKE was sent packing.

Lamda Chi 0 - G.V.E 13
GVE gained an early lead at half time and scored once again to seal their fate.
GVE quarterback Eric Barto spirled one down to Patrick Williams for the first score of the game. Lambda Chi Alpha provided good defense but it wasn't enough for GVE's speed. L-Chi's Jose Berumen let Williams slip right past him for the touchdown. Their extra point attempt was successfull with a quick slant out to James Dimasco putting the half 7 to 0.
L-Chi continued to struggle late into the second half, letting Barto make great advances down the line. Barto juked out their defense to score another touchdown on a 40 yard run.
L-Chi tried one more attempt to score with 2 minutes remaining but to no avail. Their offense needs to focus on quick plays instead of looking down for the big run.

Lambda Chi A 15 - Kappa Sigma B 1
Lambda Chi was unstoppable on offense with nine first half goals and an easy win over K-Sig B. The first half was filled with shot after shot taken at the K-Sig keeper Cameron Tutwiler. Tutwiler managed to make several solid blocks but he couldn’t save everything.
Joshua Hunter put two goals on the board and Dustyn Stanley added another one in the first ten minutes of what looked to be a close contested battle. After that, however, it was all Lambda Chi. Ryan Leao hit the back of the cage three times in a row for a hat trick and they managed to score six more times total before the end of the half.
The scoring continued through the second half as well. Lambda Chi lit up three more goals to make it 12-0 before Griffin Stankus finally snuck one past LXA keeper Cesar Zarate for their only score of the game. Stanley and Hunter were the only two goal scorers in the second half for Lambda Chi with three apiece before the mercy rule took effect with five minutes to go.
Hunter had a double hat trick to top the scoring leaders. Stanley put five goals toward his name and Leao was the third to land a hat trick. Matt Gurnsey added a score in the first half before leaving the game with an injury.
Lambda Chi B 5 - Pi Kappa Alpha 3
Pike held on to a 3-2 advantage at halftime, but the second half belonged to Lambda Chi as they scored three unanswered goals and played lights out defense to come away with the victory. The first half was a solid battle with back and forth scoring between the two squads.
Thomas Ricca of Lambda Chi was the first to find the back of the cage to give them their only lead of the first half. That goal was answered shortly after with Pike goals by Devin Carter and Sean Rousseau to put them on top for the time being. Adam Lester made a fancy shot from midcourt to tie it back up only a minute after Rousseau put his shot past Lambda Chi goalie Jose Berumen.
Erik McKay was the last to score in the half when he took a shot that ricocheted off a Lambda Chi player and went into the goal. Pike would keep up the defense until the end of the half to give themselves a little bit of a breather and think up a new strategy to hold their lead.
Lambda Chi came out in the second half playing all out soccer. Casey Barbee tied up the score only a minute into the half and the momentum suddenly went right back to their side. Thanks to a tremendous defensive effort and excellent goalkeeping by Berumen, they kept that momentum until the end. Randy Reichenfeld scored the last two goals of the game, one to give Lambda Chi the lead and one to give them a little extra insurance.
Pike did everything they could to get back into the game but Lambda Chi’s defense was just too much and they couldn’t gain back the control they had in the first half.

Lambda Chi A 13 - Zeta Beta Tau B 19
Lambda Chi made a late surge at the end but fell just short in a loss to ZBT B-Team. Josh Jabborah had a great day at quarterback with two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown. His two rushes came in the first half to put ZBT ahead 13-0 going into the break.
ZBT had a comfortable lead at the start of the second half thanks to great defense and constant pressure on LXA quarterback Casey Barbee. Their play in the second half slipped a little though as Barbee led two successful LXA drives to bring themselves right back into the game.
Barbee found Timothy Pyle first to make it 13-6 but Jabborah answered right back with a touchdown pass to Joey Repetti to once again extend the ZBT lead to 19-6. With the clock winding down, things didn’t look too positive for Barbee and Lambda Chi. Barbee was not finished though as he made a nice pass to Matt Gurnsey to bring it back to a one score game.
ZBT got the ball back but was unable to convert on their last drive. They didn’t want to risk going for it on fourth down and give LXA good field position so they were forced to punt. LXA had one last shot but time just wasn’t on their side. They managed to make it all the way to the ten yard line but with no time outs remaining, the clock hit zero and ZBT let out a huge sigh of relief. They walked off the field with their heads held high and a 19-13 victory.

Lambda Chi B 14 - STB 18
Lambda Chi was spotted an 8-0 lead thanks to a late arrival by some of the STB players, but STB found its stride late, holding on to defeat Lambda Chi by a final score of 18-14.
Trailing, STB's Burroughs took the first snap at quarterback, and putting on Reggie Bush-like jukes, he managed to stay on his feet and keep the play alive to run for a 66-yard touchdown on the first play of the game. But a failed conversion left them trailing 8-6.
Lambda Chi found its offensive stride in the form of Aaron Krakauer, who hauled in a long reception to set up a touchdown pass from Jose Berumen to Ryan Leao to extend the lead to 14-6.
But following a Lambda Chi turnover on downs, STB quarterback Jacoby Reed marched his team down the short field before ultimately dumping it off to Justin Fuller for the score and only a two point deficit.
After a L-Chi punt, with two minutes left, STB pulled out the play book and pulled a trick Lambda Chi did not expect, reversing the ball to Burroughs, a big time running threat, who threw it for a long touchdown to Dashaun Jones for an 18-14 lead with 1:15 left.
Lambda Chi was not finished however, as two big gains to Krakauer gave them first and goal at the STB 17 yard line with 21 seconds left. But four straight incomplete passes left them trailing, and gave STB the win.
Burroughs ran all over Lambda Chi, making big gains on the ground with jukes and brakes. Krakauer, on the other side of the ball, played great for Lambda Chi.

Lambda Chi A 11 - Lambda Chi B 6
Cesar Zarate had a hat trick and one more goal before any of the other players on the Lambda Chi A squad had scored as they easily took down their second string team 11-6. Neither team could record a goal at the start of the game thanks to great play from starting goalies Dustyn Stanley of the A-team and Jose Berumen of the B-team.
Zarate was the first to find the back of the cage after eight solid minutes of defensive domination on both sides. He put another past Berumen to put the A-team up 2-0 before Adam Lester of the B-team snuck one past Stanley to cut the deficit back down to one. It was all A-team from there as Zarate put two more scores on the board, including an impressive half court shot. Kyle Ross was responsible for the next two goals for A-team and Stanley even added one before the first half came to a close.
The A-team was cruising with a 7-1 lead headed into the break. Thomas Ricca started the second half off with a goal for the B-team, but it was countered with another Zarate score only moments later. The scoring bounced back and forth between both teams. B-team would find the goal and creep a little closer, only to have it taken away with an A-team goal.
Zarate would score again before the game ended to finish off his night being responsible for over half of the A-teams goals. Joshua Hunter also landed two netters in the second half. Ricca was the high scorer for the B-team with all of his four goals coming in the second half. Casey Barbee chipped in a goal as well.

Lambda Chi A 11, Sigma Delta Alpha 8
Lambda Chi put up a 5-2 lead by the end of the first half. Players Joshua Hunter and Cesar Zarate controlled the court with their incredible offensive play, and scored two goals each. Teammate Ryan Leao also scored a point in the half off an assist by Zarate. SDA put up a fight, with Marco Gonzales-Alcala and Daniel Silva both scoring a point each. Despite their efforts, SDA were not able to get past Lambda Chi's strong defense in order to make more goals.
SDA tightened their offensive play going into the second half, with Roberto Ruiz scoring a minute into the game. Ruiz went on to score a hat trick for his team. Halfway through the match, however, an SDA player received a yellow card, and Lambda Chi's Zarate scored on the penalty kick as a result. Joshua Hunter made the last point for his team, producing a final score of 11-8.
For Lambda Chi, Matt Guernsey and Zarate displayed excellent communication and passing offensively. Their goal keeper, Dustyn Stanley, demonstrated block after block. Hugo Cruz was a key player offensively for SDA, challenging Lambda Chi's defense and attempting multiple shots. |

Lambda Chi A 20 - Alpha Epsilon Pi 0
Lambda Chi went on a second half tear after taking advantage of AEPi mistakes and mishaps to win by a mercy-rule score of 20-0.
With the score tied at 0-0 at half-time, Lambda Chi marched down the field on its first possession to score on a touchdown pass from Casey Barbee to Matt Guernsey.
Later, Lambda Chi would get touchdowns on a reception by Tim Pyle and on an interception return. On the return, Casey Barbee took a tipped AEPi pass back to midfield then pitched to Cesar Zarate, who proceeded to take it the rest of the way for the score.
AEPi turned the ball over three times, all on interceptions, two by Casey Barbee. Barbee took bobbled catch attempts by Itamar Labouz and Ilan Banner and grabbed the ball out of the air, bringing it back to midfield or further both times.
Lambda Chi's defense held AEPi scoreless, as Sammy Scherr struggled to complete passes after the run game was stifled by Guernsey and Adam Lester.

Lambda Chi B 21 - ATO Gators 12
ATO led at half-time, but Lambda Chi went on a big run in the second half to end up with a 21-12 victory against the Gators.
Lambda Chi fell down by 12 points early (12-0) on big plays by Patrick Lang and a lack of offensive flow by Lambda Chi. Lang opened the scoring with a touchdown run to go up by six points, and after a long gain by Pate Thomas on ATO's next drive, Lang found Justin Fowler in the back of the endzone for a 12-0 lead after both conversions were failed.
But the second half was all Lambda Chi. Quarterback Jose Berumen finally found his groove, putting together a scoring drive after short passes to Aaron Krakauer set up a touchdown pass to Christian Lapuz. Then, following an ATO punt, Berumen threw a long touchdown pass to Devin Fuschi to tie the score at 12-12. A conversion by Josh Hunter gave L-Chi a 13-12 lead.
Down by one, ATO had to score on its next possession, but consecutive sacks by Ryan Leao pushed Lang and ATO back near the goalline, resulting in an eventual turnover on downs. Berumen ran the ball in on the next play to go up 19-12.
ATO had the ball with one minute left to score, but sacks by Leao and Hunter resulted in a safety, and two more points for Lambda Chi.

Lambda Chi A 7 - Pike 3
A very physical match up ends with L-Chi A Team on top. Sean Maes led L-Chi to the gold with 3 goals in the first half and 6 in total. Maes made the Pike defenders look foolish with his trick ball handling skills. Pike’s Erik McKay and Jose Nevarez made it a close first half with the final seconds 3 to 2 L-Chi.
The second half was more of Maes slamming goals in and Pike’s frustration getting the better of them. Pikes only second half score came from Jose Nevarez putting them one goal behind L-Chi (4-3). L-Chi went on to score 3 more goals in the final 5 minutes of the game with the final score 7 to 3 L-Chi. L-Chi’s score would have been dramatically increased if not for the Pike goalie Mitchell Keenan would made several tough blocks.

Lambda Chi Alpha A Team 21 - Kappa Sigma
In case you were curious, yes, that was actually the score of this match. Lambda Chi ran all over Kappa Sigma early and often as L-Chi's A Team began the season in dominant fashion with a statement-making 21-2 victory.
Sean Maes made himself an early candidate to be the leading scorer of the season with almost a quadruple hat trick, which would have been 12 goals. But he actually only scored 11 goals, which is a wild endeavor in and of himself. He scored six in the first half, and five in the first fifteen minutes of the second half before the game was blown as a mercy rule.
Teammate Josh Lopez added four goals, and Josh Hunter and Dustyn Stanley each scored two as well. Six players scored for Lambda Chi all in all.
Lambda Chi ran up the score throughout the game, but a 14-1 half-time lead was far too much for Kappa Sigma to compete with. Kappa Sigma got two goals from Ryan Delacruz, but as stated, four people from Lambda Chi accomplished that feat on their own. Kappa Sigma hustled and never quit, but the score just kept drifting further and further away from reach.

Despite a Matt Guernsey injury prior to the game, Lambda Chi Alpha came out to take a close first game against a well-rounded TKE squad, 23-21. There were plenty of great rallies throughout the match with great serves, spikes, and blocks as well. Lambda Chi found their footing in the second game, holding TKE to only 11 points. Randy Reichenfeld and Robert Brede stepped up in the second game with some accurate spikes which would earn their team key decisive points in the second game. Caesar Zarate also played well, with good serving and a couple of clutch saves. TKE's Asher Berge, Sean Murray, and Andrew Schmidt played well in the loss.

Lambda Chi Alpha 2 Zeta Beta Tau 0
These two talented greek volleyball squads went head to head Thursday in a red division final showdown that had some interesting twists. Both teams started the match undermanned, (ZBT with 5 and LXA with 4). Luckily, Lambda Chi had their all-star player Robert Brede who came ready to play and was very versatile on the court. Joseph Repetti of ZBT started on the court but they would play without John Houser until late in the second game.
Lambda Chi established an early lead in the first game with ZBT unable to get within three points of them up until LXA took it, 21-15. Brede of LXA was all over the court, setting up Thomas Ricca for some key spikes and making a few digs to keep the ball alive. Repetti of ZBT did well as a utility player too but had a hard time scoring on the well rounded four LXA players on the court.
ZBT changed up their configuration on the court a bit in the second game with success, taking the lead at the ten point mark. Daniel Mason and JJ Van Vess stepped up to the net in a joint effort to deny a number of Brede and Ricca spikes and keep the game close. John Houser came late in the second game on a 14-10 LXA lead and give his team that needed extra push to overcome the deficit. ZBT eventually tied the game and even took the lead after a Repetti serve but Robert Brede would run it back to tie at 20. A missed Houser spike and a Kim Collins ace gave LXA a close second game win just like that and the match, 22-20.
Lambda Chi Alpha 2 Sigma Delta Alpha 0
Sigma Delta Alpha came into this match well aware of what they were getting into and came out in the first game taking the lead against an undermanned Lambda Chi team. Good rallying and combinations setting SDA up for key set-spike points put them ahead for much of the first game but LXA settled down and eventually took control.
Robert Brede anf Thomas Ricca became a force to reckon with up at the net late in the second game, breaking many of SDA's serves and blocking spikes to turn the score around. A few errors and aces later, Lambda Chi took the first game, 21-19.
LXA would start the second game in the drivers seat and never letting go of the wheel, maintaining a 2-3 point cushion most of the game. Brede and Ricca continued to spike balls out of reach with Matt Guernsey breaking out to score some spike points of his own. SDA's net errors and the inability to keep spikes alive cost them the second game, 21-15. Jose Rodriguez, Apolinar Rivera, and Jorge Paz-Hererra played well in the loss.
T-Rex Explosion 2 Lambda Chi Alpha 0
Lambda Chi Alpha started the first game with 4 as no surprise, but Robert Brede missing from the equation definitely was. LXA suffered in the first game, going down quickly, 11-3 before Brede would show up and strengthen his lineup with five on the court. By then, T-Rex had already established momentum and forced LXA to make errors in attempt to cut their lead down. Another surprising factor of this game is that Alexander Turner sat out, leaving it to the other big T-Rex hitters Jordan Bernot, Jerel Deacon, and Carlos Solis. T-Rex Explosion took the first game with ease, 21-9.
T-Rex started the second game with another big lead but LXA refused to budge once T-Rex hit 15, rallying to bring the score to 19-20. Matt Guernsey broke out in the second game, making clutch saves and scoring a handful of points with some big spikes and blocks. Robert Brede continued to show his brother on the other side of the net, (Casey Brede) what he was capable of by flying across the court to keep the ball alive then running up to the net for a big spike or block. Net points were the x factor in the second game, with both teams exchaning big spikes for points on the board. With the game tied at 21 all, LXA suffered an error and Jordan Bernot capitalized, spiking the ball for the victory, 23-21. T-Rex Explosion had an undefeated season thanks to their roster depth and unmatched net presence. They are now the new UNLV All-Campus Intramural Volleyball Champions.

Lambda Chi Alpha 2 - Kappa Sigma B 0
Lambda Chi are no strangers to this time of year and they usually save their best for the playoffs. The Green and Yellow outfit began their title defense with a two set victory over Kappa Sigma's B team.
Captain Robert Brede has his team very poised for a third straight title and with teammates like Xingchen Zhao, Cesar Zarate and Matt Guernsey their confidence should be high. Just a warm up game, Lambda Chi thought of it as anything but that executing nice 1-2 sets and kills. Lambda Chi took control of both games from the start, rarely missing an opprotunity for a kill. Brede and Guernsey combined for the bulk of their teams kills while Zhao and Zarate played the setter role. Zarate worked well with Brede and the same went to Zhao and Guernsey, but this team is versatile and at anytime the roles can be switched, making them very dangerous.
Kappa Sigma played hard behind Tommy Lambert and Austin Guise but the 1 vs 4 seed game went the direction of the top team.

Like clockwork though, Max Gonzalez from Kick Balls, turned up the tempo for his team scoring a brace to tie the game up at dueces. Stealing the momentum, Kick Balls had a couple goal scoring chances but Keeper Casey Barbee was there to meet the challenge and keep his team in the game. Josh Hunter put Lambda Chi ahead late but on the ensueing kickoff Gonzalez and teammate Carlos Lopez strung together some quick passes and tied the game. This was match between two very good fraternity teams. Lambda Chi outplayed ZBT on this night in two games. The first game was all Lambda Chi as they won 21-16. Even though the game was close, Lambda Chi had a lead the whole time and the main reason for this was because they played very well together. Led by the setter Robert Brede, Lambda Chi communicated flawlessly in this one. Jake Houser and Joey Repetti kept ZBT in it with some hard spikes and serves. Danny Mason also played well for ZBT with some good blocks. The second game was just like the first as Lambda Chi won 21-17. Lambda Chi’s Brede along with Matt Guernsey were too much for ZBT to handle tonight.

Pi Kappa Alpha looked avenge a regular season loss against undefeated Lambda Chi Alpha and move on to play the winner of the Phi Delta Theta/Kappa Sigma match being played at the same time. Pike came out strong, winning many challenges and for the most part, controling the movement of the ball at midfield. This momentum gave them two great looks at the net including a Erik McKay breakaway and Daniel Maman with a shot attempt right in front of LXA keeper Casey Barbee. Halim Daniel and Jose Nevarez also had a couple shots on net in opening minutes, but Lambda Chi managed to hold on and find their footing. Sean Maes of LXA scored first for his team after a missed defensive trap, shifting the momentum in his teams favor for virtually the rest of the match. Dustyn Stanley would strike next for LXA after a Caesar Zarate assist to put them up 2-0 at the half.
The second half started similar to the first, with Pike putting the pressure on and shots on goal from Daniel, Nevarez, and Cameron Zwaller. LXA's Dustyn Stanley grabbed his second goal off another Pike defensive turnover followed by the final goal of the match scored by Maes for his second, 4-0. Lambda Chi would proceed to face Phi Delta Theta in the Red division champioship.
Lambda Chi Alpha 6 Phi Delta Theta 3
The two high-powered offenses of LXA and Phi Delt faced off in an entertaining greek red division final. The first few minutes of play saw both teams trying to generate offense but Sean Maes found an opening after a quick turn to shoot with his left foot into the lower left corner of the net, 1-0. Juan Gatti exploded down the field on the next possession beating the defense for a clear shot but got his jersey held for a PK opportunity in LXA's goalie box. Gatti finished, tying the game right back at 1-1. Maes and Gatti would exchange goals once more toward the end of the half with Maes bending a shot past diving Jose Rangel and Gatti drilling one in left-footed past a sprawled out Casey Barbee, 2-2.
Both teams played a bit more conservative defensively, being more cautious in their back end. Lambda Chi took the lead once more after Dustyn Stanley got a knee on the ball right past Rangel off a Josh Lopez assist, 3-2. Maes got his hat trick next after a diffcult shot that was nearly parallel with Phi Delt's goal, 4-2. Stanley was hungry for his second and ripped two shots for rebounds with Kim Collins coming down the field from his defensive position to score, 5-2. Phi Delt would not give up easily, scoring next with Justin Warren heading one in off a quick Crame to Gatti to Warren series of passes, 5-3. Stanley earned his second goal late in the game after beating two defenders and putting the game out of reach, 6-3.

Lambda Chi Alpha 2 – Delta Chi 0
A very good Lambda Chi Alpha took care of business against Delta Chi for an easy two games to zero win. Lambda Chi won the first game 25-18. They were led by setter Robert Brede, who made perfect sets, greatly positioned spikes, and also told his teammates what to do and when to do it. He would call out numbers identifying where he was setting the ball and then call out another number, which corresponded to the location of where he wanted his teammate to hit the ball on the other side of the net. Lambda Chi took an early lead that Delta Chi could not come back from. D-Chi did have some nice blocks from Kevin Ori and Yoshi Takamura, but Lambda Chi had too many weapons. Chris Isham has a hard jump serve and Matt Guernsey has a mean spike, including one that went off the chest of Delta Chi’s Christian Lightbourne. The second game was an easy one for Lambda Chi who took and early 8-2 lead and turned that into a 25-15 win.

DGAF 3 – Lambda Chi Alpha A Team 1
The rematch of last year’s men’s open championship had the same result, with DGAF proving to overcome adversity to be victorious in a 3-1 championship win against Lambda Chi.
Lambda Chi was stronger than DGAF in game one, using their own strategy against them. Lambda Chi caught five balls in the game, two each by Casey Barbee and John Gonzalez, and Barbee also hit a player. Lambda Chi walked away from the game with a 6-0 win and an early 1-0 victory.
But DGAF came back strong in the next game, forcing Lambda Chi to use its sore arms against them, and they paid for it. DGAF caught almost every ball that came their way, with Aaron Johnson and Matt Cherry leading the charge. With the lead 5-1, Mark Peebles finished the game with a catch of a Cesar Zarate throw.
Game three saw a more aggressive Barbee, but an equally defensive DGAF team. Barbee threw out three DGAF players in this game, but his ball later on was caught low to the ground by Cherry to give DGAF a 4-3 lead. Chris Heath and Ricky Campbell each recorded catches, and DGAF earned a 6-1 lead. After L-Chi eliminated one player, DGAF eliminated him to win 5-0.
Game five was all DGAF, as no DGAF player was eliminated until the final minute. Two early Sammy Scherr throws, including one that hit Alex McGinnis in the foot when he was not looking, made the score 6-3. Matt Cherry caught another Barbee throw, and an Aaron Johnson catch made the score 6-1. Josh Hunter, the remaining L-Chi, hit out Scherr before Scherr could pull a behind the back trick move, but Cherry hit him to end the game and make DGAF champions of the Men’s league.

Lambda Chi Alpha A Team 3 – ZBT Blue 1
After struggling through the regular season, including a loss to their “B” team, Lambda Chi showed up to the playoffs looking like the team that made it to the open championship last year, as a pumped up Casey Barbee and Lambda Chi knocked off ZBT Blue, 3-1.
L-Chi got up early in game one as quick catches and some solid throwing gave them a 6-1 lead before John Gonzalez finished the game by catching another throw from Carl Amorati. But ZBT bounced back to win game two in a dramatic, lucky fashion.
With the score tied at 3-3, Barbee hit JJ Van Ness to give his team a 3-2 lead. Barbee’s next throw, with ten seconds left hit Peter Yaskin in the foot, but the ball bounced straight up for a catch opportunity that didn’t go to waste. ZBT won the game 3-2.
But Lambda Chi took the next two games. Going back to their strengths, Lambda Chi got an offensively aggressive ZBT team in deep holes by making catches early and often. Alex McGinnis made some of these nice catches, as did Barbee and Gonzalez.
Barbee finished off ZBT in game four by hitting Nathan Massey, Amorati, and Bo Murphy to end the game.
Lambda Chi Alpha A Team 3 – Kappa Sigma 2
One of the most intense dodgeball games of the season occurred when these two teams faced off against each other, but red-hot Lambda Chi Alpha prevailed with a clutch win in game five to win it all 3-2.
Lambda Chi took game one when K-Sig couldn’t come back from their huge deficit. Lambda Chi had an early 5-2 lead after a few catches from John Gonzalez and Alex McGinnis, but lost it when Klorman went on fire to cut the lead to 3-2 after a catch and a hit on Casey Barbee. But he was hit out to leave the score at 3-1 before McGinnis had another catch to end the game.
K-Sig bounced back in game two, as two Lozoya catches gave K-Sig a 4-2 lead. Gonzalez hit Donald Tejada to make the score 3-2, but another Klorman catch gave his team the 4-1 win as time ran out on L-Chi.
K-Sig also took game three, as Leon Pashnick had a catch and a throw out of Barbee to give his team a 6-3 lead. A McGinnis catch made it 5-4, but a chaotic stretch of team Kappa Sigma throwing saw their lead jump out to 4-1. Eric Smith then hit McGinnis to get the win.
Lambda Chi came back in game four to win. Barbee, McGinnis and Gonzalez all had catches in the dominant game win, setting up a game five.
With Lambda Chi up 5-3, Pashnick made a catch to make it 4-4. But back to back catches by McGinnis and Cesar Zarate stretched L-Chi’s lead to 6-2. Pashnick hit two players to make the score 4-2, but a fired up Casey Barbee caught his next ball to win the game, 5-1.
Greek Red Championship
Lambda Chi Alpha 3 – Pi Kappa Alpha 0
Red-hot Lambda Chi Alpha remained that way in the Greek Red Championship game, as they easily defeated Pike for a 3-0 victory.
L-Chi jumped out to a big 6-2 lead to start the game thanks to two throw-outs by Casey Barbee. But Pike fought back to make it 4-2 before Adam Lester caught a ball from Ben Green to make the score 5-1 for the win.
After two early catches and a sweet throw from Barbee to eliminate Dante McClain, Lamdba Chi was up 6-3 in game two. Barbee caught another ball, this one from Dylan Jeffers, to make the lead 6-2 before two more catches gave L-Chi the dominant 6-0 win in the game.
Game three was no different than either of the first two games, as L-Chi catches gave them an early 5-3 lead. Barbee threw out Tyler Damiano to make the score 5-2. Another throw out and a game-winning catch by Alex McGinnis gave L-Chi the win, prompting an on-court celebration.

Lambda Chi Alpha 4 – Phi Delta Theta 0
With a large portion of their brotherhood at the game, including their newly-bidded new guys watching, Lambda Chi took advantage of a depleted Phi Delt team to win 4-0 in front of their crowd.
Every goal caused an eruption of cheers from Lambda Chi’s side of the field. Sean Maes caused two such eruptions with two goals, and Josh Hunter scored one as well. Cesar Zarate completed the scoring for Lambda Chi on a sweet header into the net.
Phi Delta Theta was playing without soccer stars Juan Gotti and Andrew Crame, and it hurt their offensive flow. Jose Rangel had a good day on defense, but it wasn’t enough to keep his team in the game.

Lambda Chi Alpha A Team 3 – Sigma Alpha Mu White 0
A close game one ended up going Lambda Chi’s way down the stretch, and they easily took games two and three to shut out the Sammys in a 3-0 win.
In game one, the Sammys only had four people, but were still the ones to strike first. But down 5-4, Alex McGinnis made a catch to push the lead to 6-3. A John Gonzalez catch made it 6-2, and after eliminating one player, time ran out on the Sammys.
Game two brought another Sammy player to the court to make the score 6-5 at the beginning. After trading catches, the score was 4-3 in L-Chi’s favor. Casey Barbee hit a player and caught a ball to make the score 5-1, then Gonzalez hit a player to secure the win.
Game three was more of the same. A tipped ball was caught by Gonzalez to have a 6-3 lead. Catches by McGinnis and Barbee made the score 6-1, and the one remaining Sammy, Hunter Smit, batted a ball away with his bare hand to take the loss.
Kappa Sigma 3 – Lambda Chi Alpha B Team 2
Lambda Chi had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but ultimately could not finish Kappa Sigma as K-Sig bounced back from a game three loss to win games four and five for a 3-2 victory.
Lambda Chi’s smart strategy earned a victory in games one and three, that strategy being “get up early and don’t risk your balls getting caught.” In both games, early plays by Aaron Krakauer and Andy Willis set up the ability to use their strategy.
Down 2-1, Kappa Sigma dominated game four, as Chris Lozoya led his team with a hit and three catches. Up 6-1, Tommy Lambert caught a ball to secure the win.
Game five saw Lambda Chi jump out to a 6-4 lead after Matt Guernsey hit two players with one throw. But K-Sig took over from there. Two catches swung the lead back to 6-4 in their favor, and two hits dropped the score to 6-2. Lozoya then made two catches for the 6-0 game five win.

Lambda Chi Alpha 5 – Pi Kappa Alpha 1
Cesar Zarate and Sean Maes led Lambda Chi to an easy 5-1 victory over Pi Kappa Alpha. Zarate had a goal and two assists, and Maes scored three goals and added one assist. This assist came on a corner kick after he kicked it over the middle of the field and Josh Hunter ran up and jumped. While he was almost perpendicular to the ground, he kicked the ball which found the corner of the net. Even though the score did not show it, Pike played very well and it was no easy game for Lambda Chi. Down 3-0 at the start of the second half, Pike actually controlled the ball for the first ten minutes, but just could not capitalize on their opportunities. Daniel Maman did score for Pike late in the game but it was too little too late. Don’t count Pike out, because they played a very good game against a very good Lambda Chi Team.

Lambda Chi Alpha (A) 3 – Delta Chi 0
This match was all Lambda Chi as they won each game in a quick and efficient manner. The first game was won by Lambda Chi behind the arm of Casey Barbee, and the catches by John Gonzalez. Lambda Chi won with five player remaining on the floor. The second game went the same as the first as Lambda Chi won with four players remaining. Delta Chi’s Kevin Ori made an unbelievable diving catch on a ball that was thrown by Barbee, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 6-2 deficit they were already in. Lambda Chi dominated the third game with strategic throws and timely catches.
Pi Kappa Alpha 3 – Lambda Chi Alpha (B) 1
Lambda Chi started the match off strong with a game one overtime win over Pi Kappa Alpha. Lambda Chi’s Aaron Krakauer had the final hit to win the game and take a 1-0 lead. This lead would not last long as Pike came back and won the second game with coordinated throws. This strategy seemed to work because Pike never looked back as they won the next two games to win the match 3-1. The third game was another overtime thriller as Pike’s Tyler Damiano hit Lambda Chi’s Xingchen Zhao to win it. In the final game Pike’s Chase Shropsh dominated with three hits and a catch.
Lambda Chi Alpha (A) 3 – Sigma Alpha Epsilon 1
Lambda Chi Alpha dominated this match in every form to win 3-1. In the first game, Lambda Chi had two hits and two catches right as the game started. Casey Barbee had three hits this game and John Gonzalez had a nice tip catch. Lambda Chi won the game with all six players left on the floor. The second game was a little different as SAE outlasted Lambda Chi to win 4-3. Lambda Chi stepped up their game as they controlled the third. Alex McGinnis made a nice catch from SAE’s Matthew Johnson. SAE’s Samuel Jacobson then made a great diving catch, but Casey Barbee and Lambda Chi was too strong as they used their arms to win the game with five players remaining. Game four was more of the same, as Lambda Chi had nice catches from Gonzalez and McGinnis, and Barbee dominated with his arm to secure the victory for Lambda Chi.

Lambda Chi Alpha 5 Sigma Alpha MU White 0
LXA remains undefeated in their time slot after a 5-0 shutout over Sigma Alpha Mu Tuesday. The game looked to be pretty even in opening minutes with a couple of nice possessions led by Sammy’s David Levi. Lambda Chi would find their groove however with captain Josh Hunter pounding in a rebound of a shot from Caesar Zarate. LXA’s next goal would be scored by Zarate after a bending shot that flew right past Sammy’s keeper. Casey Barbee would increase the lead to 3-0 right before the end of the half.
Newly Rostered LXA player #55 Sean T Maes would grab the first and second goal of the second half after taking the ball up the right side of the field both times. Sammy would almost finish late in the game with David Levi getting a clear run at the net and shooting just wide right. Emmanuel Reyes from Sigma Alpha Mu played a great defensive game but could not stop LXA’s triple threat up top including their new player, Maess. Zarate also received a yellow card in the second for an intentional hand ball to keep the ball in play. Lambda Chi will be facing off against Pike Thursday to try and keep their perfect record alive.

Lambda Chi Alpha B Team 3 – Alpha Kappa Psi 2
Lambda Chi had to forfeit game one to AK Psi because they only had three players, but late arrivals game them te push to win three out of the next four games for a 3-2 victory.
Lambda Chi had a quick 4-1 lead in game two after catches and hard throws eliminated AK Psi. Ryan Wieczorek fought on, getting two Lambda Chi’s out, but his last ball was caught in the LC win.
Lambda Chi won game three to hold a 2-1 lead, but AK Psi bounced back with a win in game four thanks to the strong, accurate arm of Robert Kay.
In game five, two quick catches and a hit by Lambda Chi players gave them a big lead. Down the road, it was four on one in favor of Lambda Chi. But William Provance hit three Lambda Chi players to set up a pivotal one on one match-up against Aaron Krakauer, but Krakauer hit him to put off what would have been an amazing comeback.
SAE 3 – Lambda Chi Alpha B Team 2
SAE had some good fortune down the road, not to mention good use of catching and strategy to beat the Lambda Chi Alpha B-Team 3-2.
SAE took game one (4-0) after good catches and easy hit opportunities did not go to waste. But Lambda Chi came back to dominate in games two and three, both times having five players left. Whenever LC switches to a catching first mentality, that is usually bad news for opponents.
But game four had a pivotal moment in SAE’s favor. It went to overtime, but in overtime, Chris Isham of Lambda Chi stepped over the line, giving SAE the win.
SAE rode that momentum in game five, as an early 5-2 lead thanks to a couple of good hits and an unbelievable catch. After a hit-out, SAE caught the final throw attempt from Lambda Chi to give them a 6-0 game five win.
Lambda Chi Alpha A-Team 3 – AK Psi Leopards 0
Everyone from Lambda Chi contributed in this win, as solid play from all six Lambda Chi athletes gave them an easy 3-0 win over AK Psi.
In game one, John Gonzalez hit two players and caught another ball to give Lambda Chi a 4-3 lead. An Alex McGinnis catch furthered that lead to 5-2, and Casey Barbee took over to ice the win.
In game two, Josh Hunter hit a player, but that was the only highlight of a player not named Barbee or Gonzalez. The duo combined for three catches and two hits in a game that last less than 60 seconds.
Game three was no different for AK Psi’s fortunes, as three Barbee hits and catches by Gonzales and McGinnis gave Lambda Chi the 5-0 win in game three.

Lambda Chi Alpha 6 Alpha Epsilon Pi 0
Alpha Epsilon Pi started the game man down due to dodgeball scheduling conflicts and definitely felt the effects as Lambda Chi’s offensive attack resulted in a large first half lead. LXA star Caesar Zarate gave his team their first goal after a rip from 25′ out followed closely by another nice shot from captain Joshua Hunter. Zarate would put score his second goal of the night right before the whistle blew to end the first half. AEPi would play at full strength in the second half but found it difficult to overcome LXA’s 3-0 lead. Lambda Chi’s Matt Guernsey scored the first goal of the second half in a quick transition followed by Zarate for his third of the match. Zarate then switched to keeper position and made a brilliant save off a shot from Brent Fishman to keep the shutout alive. Joshua Lopez from Lambda Chi Alpha would close out the match with their sixth goal of the evening. Brent Fishman and Mitchell Weinstein from AEPi had some close attempts with great ball movement in transition. Undefeated LXA will continue to be a force going into the playoffs.

Lambda Chi Alpha (A-Team) 3 – Zeta Beta Tao Blue 2
This was definitely the most exciting game of the night as Lambda Chi Alpha won a tough 5-game match against a very good Zeta Beta Tao team. Game one was all ZBT as they had all six of their players left on the floor as time ran out. Tghe second game was the complete opposite as Lambda Chi beat ZBT and still had five of their players left. In this game, Casey Barbee of Lambda Chi caught a well thrown ball from ZBT’s Daniel Romero for the win. The third game was very close for most of the time as Lambda Chi had a lead. ZBT’s J.J. Van Ness kept it close with two clutch hits. However, Lambda Chi’s Adam Lester caught a ball from Van Ness with one minute left to secure the victory. The fourth game was all ZBT domination as Preston Simon used his arm to knock out many Lambda Chi’s. The four minute regulation time was not enough for these two teams as they had to go into sudden death overtime. Lambda Chi’s Josh Hunter had numerous unbelievable dodges in overtime to keep his team in it. After about two minutes in overtime ZBT’s Romero went for a hard throw and accidentally stepped over the line and giving Lambda Chi the victory.
Lambda Chi Alpha 2 – Kappa Sigma 3
Lambda Chi Alpha and Kappa Sigma was the first game of the night to go to an exciting fifth game. The first game was all Lambda Chi as Casey Barbee hit the final K-Sig player to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The second game was very hard fought by both teams but K-Sig ended up winning with five players left on the floor. The third game was very close for the first half Lambda Chi took over with some key catches and eventually won with all six players on the floor. The fourth and fifth games were all K-Sig as Donald Tejada took over with a clutch catch in game five followed by a hard hit to eliminate Lambda Chi for good.
Zeta Beta Tao Blue 3 – Lambda Chi Alpha (B Team) 1
This match was all Zeta Beta Tao except for the first game when the Lambda Chi Alpha B-Team surprised ZBT with a convincing win. Michael Mock of Lambda Chi caught a hard thrown ball from Preston Simon, then immediately hit Carlo Ramirez for the win. They had all six players left on the floor as they took an early 1-0 lead. That’s as far as they would go as the next three games went to ZBT. Peter Yaskin dominated for ZBT with his arm and catches in the final three games.

Lambda Chi Alpha 7 Delta Chi 2
Lambda Chi’s roster depth including captain Joshua Hunter was a handful for Delta Chi’s defense Tuesday night. The game kicked off with a quick goal from LXA’s Christian Luna followed by two more from Joshua Hunter. Lambda Chi kept the pressure on but Delta Chi’s defense managed to hold the score at 3-0 to end the half. Delta Chi’s offense started to warm up in the second half but so did Lambda Chi’s with a handful of combined goals combined. Delta Chi’s #1 Jeremiah Dotson barely missed an early second half PK opportunity and captain Joshua Hunter capitalized with his third goal of the night to put his team up 4-0. Kim Collins would tack another goal on the board along with two more from Joshua Lopez to give Lambda Chi a 7 goal lead late in the game. Jakob Shallenberger and Andrew Flynn would answer for Delta Chi in the closing minutes with a goal a piece but LXA’s defense locked down to give them their first win of the season.

Lambda Chi A-Team 3 - Pi Kappa Alpha 2
One of the most exciting games of the night saw an overtime game and a game 5 as Lambda Chi pulled out an impressive 3-2 comback against Pi Kappa Alpha following the lead of Casey Barbee.
Barbee was impressive from the get-go, sending the first game into overtime by hitting Ben Green and Erik McKay. He came up short in the effort as Devin Carter hit him to give Pike the first game win.
Cesar had four total catches in games two and four to give Lambda Chi a couple of wins, setting up the pivotal game five in which Zarate once again had an impressive catch to set up a Barbee laser throw for the win. In the three games that Lambda Chi won, they dominated, and the losses were close as well.
Sigma Alpha Mu White 3 – Lambda Chi B-Team 0
The Sammys did everything right in their 3-0 victory against Lambda Chi, including overcoming amazing catches by their opponent to sweep the match in three straight games.
In game one, Sigma Alpha Mu jumped out to an early lead and kept it for the rest of the game. The highlight of the game was definitely a blazing throw out of Shea D’Amico into the face of Danny Byrd. In game two, Chris Isham almost brought his team back from being down big, but two catches, including one with only one-hand, still couldn’t give his team the win, as time ran out again.
Game three saw a fierce fight from Lambda Chi, but all-star receiver Saher Botros made a great catch late in the game to preserve the win for his Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.
ZBT White 3 – Lambda Chi A-Team 2
Down 2-0 against a potent ZBT team, Lambda Chi fought back hard and gave their all in a five-game match, but ultimately lost in overtime in game five, as ZBT snuck away with a 3-2 victory.
ZBT won the first two games against an undermanned Lambda Chi team. In game two, Danny Mason hit two players and caught two balls, one of which was a laser from Casey Barbee. Jason Gilluly ended with game with a catch of his own.
But then Lambda Chi began the fight back. Barbee stole the show in game three by destroying ZBT with his arm, hitting three people. And Cesar Zarate came to life in game four, teaming with Barbee to quickly and efficiently take the game.
Game five saw a 3-3 player tie turn into a 3-2 lead for Lambda Chi after Zarate hit Trevor Laly, but then Mark Hultz of ZBT turned around and hit Kevin Carrigan with five seconds left to force overtime.
In a dramatic fashion, Hultz caught a laser from Zarate while jumping to give his ZBT team the win, simultaneously giving Lambda Chi a crushing loss.

Lambda Chi (B) 3 Lambda Chi (A) 2
The biggest upset of the day was the Lambda Chi B team beating the Lambda Chi A team in the fifth game. The fifth game was so exciting and so action packed that it needed overtime to decide the outcome. The A team had six players on the court against only two of the B team, but with timely catches and clutch throws, the B Team came back and forced overtime. In overtime, the B team caught a throw from the A team to secure the win and complete the upset. The Lambda Chi A team won the first two games with their hard throws and nice catches, but dropped the following three.
Delta Chi 3 Lambda Chi (B) 0
After a very slow start with both teams not getting each other out for the whole first minute, Delta Chi outlasted Lambda Chi’s B team to take the first game. The second game was a little different but still had the same outcome. D-Chi proved to be the better team in this one as they had five of their six players left on the court as they took out the lone Lambda Chi. The third game was won by D-Chi, with five of the six putouts being catches.
